I call bullshit

Ah man, I was just at the gallery here in NYC and the director let me know that someone came in and stole one of my pieces this week... I've never had that happen before. I can't believe that people steal art, thats fucked up. Anyway, it was just one of my comic pages, and actually the worst one in the whole show, and there was smaller work worth about 20 times more about 5 feet to the right so I don't really think we are dealing with a genius here, probably just someone off the street that thought he might be able to make a buck by selling it...

Anyway, if anyone happens to see this page anywhere, in someones house or wherever, let me know. I would really love to fuck this person up, but in reality I'll probably just write: "MEAN PERSON" in chalk on the sidewalk outside his or her house and run for my life...

What is really bad is that we were trying to sell the entire comic as one series to a good collection, but now thats impossible. Man, this sucks...

What actually sucks the worst is that this person is forcing me to post this weak drawing on my blog twice! Bastard!

I did a studio tour this morning with a bunch of people from Toronto, I had a good time but I totally forgot to take a photo of them... Anyway, if anyone from that tour is reading this now, I would like them to know that they were great guests to have... It was sort of an ideal talk from my point of view, when people have a ton of questions it makes my part way for fun and simple...

R.I.P

Gotta be spontaneous

I was planning to share more with the new sizzlet dies that I bought from J's last week...you know, the rest of the dies that go with that cute reindeer that I posted on the pillow box. Anyway, got a call from one of my sweet friends Coco and her daughter's bday is on Friday. That's right!, Halloween! What a fun birthday! Anyway, she was in a bind for ideas for goodie bags and so here is what I came up with. It's that easy one sheet bag I created using a tutorial by Beate Johns. You can find that tutorial HERE. Anyway, I used my Happy Birthday jumbo roller with black ink and rolled on pumpkin pie and only orange cs since I needed to make 24 of them and ran out of only orange :) We're going to finish making them at lunch today so got everything all prepped!
Stamp set is Batty For You. I love this set. I used 5 of the 8 images for these bags. Happy Birthday, Kacie!I wanted to share this pic of my son's soccer team called Nakoa Makaha. The season just ended last week Saturday and they were tied for 1st place! Everytime I go to these games, I get so nervous watching, I must be wierd. But anyway, 2nd place was still awesome for these boys. Here's a pic at the potluck after the game with their medals...hubby is the coach (on the left) and Nolan is on the far right...Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! I've gotta get a move on and finish up my kits!! Did I say that yesterday?

I hope I get to post on Friday since I'll be busy with finishing kits and also my Halloween treats to give to co-workers and friends...the pressure is on!

Another cute box

Happy Wednesday! When we had lunch last week, I got this cute treat box from Cheryl. She created this after seeing all of those cute boxes created using the new SU Sizzix envelope die. The die Cheryl used is also a Sizzix die but an old one, probably not in circulation anymore. Just the perfect size for little treats. The tag is a spellbinders die and the stamps are both from Dandelion Designs. I just had to get that treat stamp, so that's why we ended up at J's! Thank you Cheryl for my treat box!! and for helping me spend my money! haha! JK!!
Funny because I started thinking that I must have this die somewhere in my stash and I was right!! I was super excited that I had it and that I could duplicate this treat box! Then I was thinking of alternatives, I think too much yeah? but anyway, I thought anyone could make a similar box without this die since you can't find it, except maybe on ebay? So, if you want to make one of these boxes, here's my take on how I made a box similar to the one I got from Cheryl.
I started with a piece of cardstock (used Pumpkin pie) 3" x 10 1/2" long. Score at 2 1/4", 4 1/2", 6 3/4" and 9". Turn the paper and score at 1 1/2". Cut as shown. This is kind of like that 2, 4, 6, 8 box...

Added adhesive on the end and attached the ends together.

Should look like this:

Then adhere the bottom flaps to close.

Then, I used my super jumbo (blue) marvy punch and punched out 4 black circles
Scored them in half

And attached them to the box! Added a strip of designer paper and that's it! Easy huh! Saved yourself some $ to buy a different die :)

Here's what my finished box looked like. I used this cute Halloween ribbon I got from Fay last year...Thanks Fay! Remember this?!

I just love this stamp "Treats Only Please"...is that cute, or what!? If you create one of these boxes, don't forget to post a link so I can see it!
Thanks for coming by today...I'm off to make a couple Hello Kitty backpacks for my co-worker's grand daughter!

LCWC #15

This week, we are doing a color combo challenge and it's already challenge #15! I love the colors Jen chose. It looks like a great holiday color combo and if you know me, I'm a non-traditional christmas color person. Here is the combo we are following this week. If you want to check out more color combos, check out this site: http://www.colorcombo.com/
Here's what I came up with for this week. We used our Hanna Stamps again. I just love this hula Hanna! Remember, if you want to play this week, check out the details on Jen's blog - Pieces of Me. Why you should consider playing? There is a prize for the winner she selects!!

Here are the DT that are playing this week - go check 'em out!
BTW, there is still time to get in on the sale going on at Little C's! You have til the end of this week to get 35% off of your order (some exclusions, see Little C's site for details).
See you back here tomorrow...I have a cute Halloween box to show you that I got from Cheryl and my take on how you can make it if you don't have this Sizzix die. Happy Tuesday!
Hugs,
Teri

Reindeer Pillow Box treat

Happy Monday friends!! Boy the weekend went by so fast. It rained all weekend! I think there is a storm passing through, or is winter here already?
Well, remember I said that I bought a whole bunch of goodies from J's Knicknacks on Friday? I love everything I bought!! Here's a cute little treat I made by cutting out this pillow box with acetate. The pillow box is a sizzix die and I believe the acetate is actually one of those clear report covers I got from Fisher. The die is from a set of 4 sizzlets called Winter Set #3 and includes dies of a Santa, a Snowman, a Penguin and this cute Reindeer!
I didn't have any Christmas candies, so I stuffed in a pack of sixlets and then wrapped around some 5/8" red grosgrain ribbon. It looked kind of blah, so I added a scallop circle punched out using my marvy mega punch (Kiwi Kiss CS). Final touch was to add some gold cord. I already die cutted and assembled all 4 characters, so I will be posting them as soon as I'm done creating something with them!
Come back tomorrow for another fantastic LCWC! It's a color challenge!

Cute little Liesel

Our neighbors dog is such a cutie. Her name is Liesel (german name) and she was owned by Grandma Ahsam (who was the sweetest german lady) but she recently passed away so Donna & Chris (Donna is Grandma Ahsam's daughter) are Liesel's new mommy & daddy and they just adore her to bits. Nolan loves to go over and play with her because he always wanted a dog. Of course, this is before we got Mochiko. Don't let Mochiko know that a cat wasn't Nolan's first choice! haha! Anyway, here are a couple pics of Liesel at one of Nolan's play days with her...
While shopping at Cute Stuff one day, I found this stamp and just had to buy it so I could make Donna a bunch of cards. Here's one of the cards I made for her. The ribbon is kind of big, but I like it anyway...

Hope you are all having a nice and relaxing Sunday. I went shopping at J's on Friday and bought alot of new things, so I will be playing with them and hopefully be able to post some of the projects that I made with them.

Happy Aloha Friday! Friday gets here so fast! Here is a cute bag made out of only one 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper. Got this idea from Joy the other week. Want to make one? You can follow the tutorial created by Beate Johns, Here is the tutorial she did for Splitcoast stampers called One Sheet Box.I can't get enough of this cute 'n sweet lamb image called "Ewenice" by High Hopes. Got this from Little C's - check it out! You can still get 35% off your entire order (some exclusions) til the end of this month!

Here is a side view of the box. Paper is by Basic Gray (remember this paper girls?).

Hope you all have grand plans for a fun weekend! I'm cutting paper for my giftcard holder kits. I have only a few kits left if anyone is interested. Please email me to let me know!

My friend, Frank

As Halloween gets closer, I knew I just HAD to make some of these Frankies! Aren't these adorable? I made one for all of the peeps at the Hawaii State FCU Alii Branch. These people treat me so kindly, so on occasions, I try to remember them with something special. Hey Joy, I made one for you too!
Of course, I am not the originator of these cute treat holders. I got the whole idea from Cambria Turnbow's blog called Stamp a Little Love Baby. Cami has some super duper ideas and tutorials - go check out her blog HERE! She made Frankie and Frankette...she was really cute, but I thought that mass producing Frankies was a job in itself! haha! Thanks to Wini who gave me a hand on Saturday to finish up these guys...
Don't they look so cute all huddled together?? Will the REAL Frankie please come forward? Thanks for dropping by today!
Aloha Friday is tomorrow and I will be sharing a cute bag using one sheet of paper that Joy taught us how to make.

Halloween Hello Kitty

I love Wednesdays! The middle of the week is always welcomed because I know there's only two more days til the weekend!
After I got this cute rak from Joy with the Halloween Hello Kitty on it, I knew I wanted to make a Halloween Hello Kitty using my Sizzix diecut.I used a thin chipboard to cut out the head only from this die (this die comes with the whole body and some overalls that she is wearing). It was easy to cut off the just the head portion. I know that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean :) I then cut out a witches hat (by hand, no diecut) to go on her head. Found this star punch which was just the right size!

For those of you who don't have these cute Hello Kitty dies, you might want to know that although these dies are super duper cute, they are a big pain in the behind to cut out the whiskers in black and the nose (I used So Saffron CS) and then glue them in place. I guess I did it because I love the kitty...
I attached it to one of those cute backpacks. This one was easier as I did not double the top note (flap of the BP and the envelope pocket). I added a rhinestone brad to the front of the pocket and of course velcro dots.

Here's a side view of the finished project. This cute Halloween goodie was made for Sunny. Daughter of my friend Barbie.

Cardstock: Pumpkin pie, basic black, so saffron
DSP is from a Halloween paper pack which is now retired (SU)
Hello Kitty Sizzix Die
Accessories: rhinestone brad, striped grosgrain ribbon
Hope you are excited as I am that it is the middle of the week! Come back tomorrow to meet some new friends.

Prints and Postcards Available

It seems like I should have done this a long time ago, back in August. When I had the book launch at Magic Pony, we came together to produce 3 limited edition Giclees, and a postcard book, all of which are available through Magic Pony. If you live in Toronto, you can go on in and see them. If not, they have a great online store set up...

The prints are an edition of 50. You can see them here, here, and here.

The postcards come in packs of 10, and you can see them here. I sent some to my mom, and she liked them so maybe you will too. Ok, only the first half of that is true. I did send them to my mom, but when I asked what she thought of them she awkwardly changed the subject and it hasn't come up again...

oh joy...

SLICK 08

I'm in an art fair this upcoming weekend in Paris, SLICK 08. I'll be represented by the gallery I work with in Marseille, Galerie Dukan et Hourdequin. You can check out the link to the fair here.

Below are the drawings I did for it. I think it will be the last time I display grid drawings on their own, I think they are stronger when displayed alongside my other black and white work...

LCWC #14

Here it is! Blogger must've been playing a trick on me, cuz I went back on just to see and now it's here...go figure.

Anyway This week, LCWC #14 is a sketch challenge, Jen created this neat and simple sketch for us to follow using our Hanna Stamps and no sentiment. Here is my take on the sketch. Sorry, but I had to add a ribbon even though the sketch didn't call for one :)
I applied some crystal effects in the coconut drink to make it look like liquid, but I guess the area is so small that it didn't show up in the photo. Again stickles on her skirt - it seems to work for me on this image but if you notice, I used a darker shade of green this week.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip (Sorry, forgot the name of the DSP as it was a scrap piece!)
Images - Hula Hanna (get them at Little C's!)
Image was colored with copic markers except for the Hanna's top, I used Regal Rose (SU).
Accessories: Stickles, crystal effects, flower punch, rhinestones, 5/8" regal rose grosgrain ribbon, Marvy Giga scallop oval punch

Please check out the creations from other design divas who played this week:
Jen, Maria, Ellie. Risa. Jean

Wanna win a prize? Create a card using the above sketch and post a comment with your link on Jen's blog - Pieces of Me. Check out her blog for all of the details!

Mahalo for your visit! Hello Kitty Halloween creation to be posted tomorrow!

OMG! What's up with blogger???

OMG! Today is LCWC #14 and I created a post last night for my take on this week's challenge. Well, this morning, all the photos on my post were gone as I went back in to "edit" and add in the links for the divas who are playing this week. I KNOW I saved, in fact, I always save several times while I'm drafting the post just to make sure, if you know what I mean! I am bummed. So sorry friends :(

I have had some problems with my blog (uploading, etc.) earlier...anyone else with problems?

Well, now that I am at work, I cannot pull up any photos of my card or the sketch since it is saved on my home computer, so I guess you'll all just have to wait til I get home from work to post my creation - boo hoo! I am so sad.

But since you are here, you might want to check out the creations by my fellow design team divas' blogs to see what they came up with this week!

Jen, Risa, Jean, Maria and Ellie... and don't forget to get all of the details and last week's challenge winner at Jen's blog, Pieces of Me...

Thanks for your visit, I appreciate you

show flicks

So I took some photos during the setup of the show... As usual, I forgot to take photos during the opening... I just took one on my way out of the door at the end of the night... All that it proves is that yes, there was a room, and yes, there were some people in that room, doing...something...

Zaks show was great, the response to it, and to our Road of Knives installation was encouraging...

My girlfriend Jamiyla came to visit me for a few days during the weekend as well, I hadn't seen her in a month so it was great! I won't see her for another couple months now...sadness. I miss her and the rest of my friends quite a bit...

ok, photos:
Our stacks of Road of Knives drawings.

Zak and the gallery staff looking at...something... I think...

The back of Shawn Cheng. Man, I'm starting to realize that I really suck at taking photos, these are so boring...

Zak and his girlfriend Mandy. Mandy is a fellow Canadian, hailing from Ottawa.

Me and my bud/former studiomate Emily Stoddart. We had a studio together a couple of years ago. Weird coincidence, we now live just down the street from each other in Brooklyn.

Me pointing my camera at the door as I was leaving... Jamiyla and I had to call it an early night, neither of us were feeling very well...

This is Jamiyla! I miss her! She is awesome at drawing, I'll put her drawings on here soon, if she lets me...
